Vatican makes history: Pope allows Islamic prayers, Koran readings
For the first time in Vatican history, the pope allowed for the reading of Islamic prayers and Koran readings from the Catholic facility.
The readings and prayer came as Pope Francis met with Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Vatican City, a gathering designed to pray for Middle Eastern peace.
A Holy See spokesman said the prayers were supposed to be a “pause in politics,” Breitbart reported. The pope said, too, that he hoped the interfaith prayers would foster peace specifically between Israelis and Palestinians, the news outlet said. Source
The Pope’s Stubborn Silence on the Persecution of Christians
4,305 Christians were killed simply because their Christian faith in 2018. This is the dramatic number contained in the new “World Watch List 2019” just compiled by the non-governmental organization Open Doors. It reveals that in 2018, there were 1,000 more Christian victims — 25% more — than the year before, when there were 3,066.
These days, 245 million Christians in the world are apparently persecuted simply for their faith. Last November, The organization Aid to the Church in Need released its “Religious Freedom Report” for 2018 and reached the a similar conclusion: 300 million Christians were subjected to violence. Christianity, despite stiff competition, has been called “the most persecuted religion in the world”. Read more here
Vianney Catholic High School Teacher Retweets Horrible Call for ‘Racist, Smug’ Covington Kids to be “Lit Up”
Dr. Dawn Finley, Ph.D is an English teacher at St. John Vianney High School in St. Louis County in Missouri.
Last Saturday the liberal media attacked pro-life, Catholic boys from Covington High School in Kentucky.
The boys were victims of media malpractice and smears and threats by liberal activists, actors and pundits.
Dr. Finley, who teaches at a Catholic boys high school, joined in on the vulgar attacks on the innocent Covington boys.

Pope Francis spends much more time talking about this life than the next one. He is given to statements such as “Another world is possible,” but he isn’t referring to heaven. He is referring to a revolutionized political order. The pope’s trip to World Youth Day in Panama this week marked another attempt to advance his temporal vision. He called on the youth to build a better “future,” but he didn’t specify where. He used his visit to what the press called the “hub” of Central America’s caravan culture to encourage illegal immigration. He deplored the “senseless and irresponsible condemnation” of illegal immigrants and mused again about countries with “bridges,” not walls.
On the plane trip to Panama, Pope Francis had already taken a jab at governments for enforcing borders. He blamed division and instability in countries reeling from illegal immigration not on the consequences of that invasion but on the “fear” of it. “It is the fear that makes us crazy,” he said, after a reporter asked him a question related to President Trump’s proposed wall.
For a pope who says that he doesn’t like to “lay burdens” on people, he has no problem guilt-tripping them if they hold rational concerns about leaving their borders open. The pope’s relentless amnesty advocacy represents a departure from the customary respect the Church gave the state concerning its legitimate duties. Previous popes, citing Jesus Christ’s injunction “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s,” were loath to question something as fundamental to good governance as immigration law-making. But this pope feels no such hesitation to encroach upon Caesar’s space. He permitted one of the prayer ceremonies in Panama to turn into something akin to a pro-amnesty rally, with references to the beaten Jesus as an illegal immigrant. Read more here
Senior Vatican priest resigns over advances to nun
A senior Vatican priest accused of making advances towards a nun during confession has resigned, the Vatican said on Tuesday.
Austrian Father Hermann Geissler resigned as one of three top officials at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which ensures Roman Catholic moral doctrine.
“Geissler decided to take this step to limit the damage already done to the congregation and to his community,” a Vatican statement said, adding that he “reserves the right for possible civil legal action”.
A Canonical disciplinary procedure in 2014 let Geissler off with a warning after German former nun Doris Wagner accused him of inappropriate behaviour during confession.
“He kept me for hours, kneeling before him, he told me that he loved me and that he knew that I loved him and that even if we couldn’t marry, there were other ways,” Wagner said.
“He tried to take me in his arms and kiss me. I panicked and ran,” Wagner said in testimony she put on social media.
Wagner also accused another priest of raping her in 2008.
He was removed from the Vatican but remains a priest in a community where “many young nuns live”, according to Wagner. Source
Pope Francis praises UAE as “model of coexistence” with “respect for diversity”

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — “Al Salamu Alaikum,” Arabic for “peace be with you,” Pope Francis said at the beginning of a video message to the people of the United Arab Emirates, which he will visit Feb. 3-5.
“I am happy that in a few days I will be able to visit your country, a land that strives to be a model of coexistence, human brotherhood and encounter among different civilizations and cultures where many find a secure place to work and live freely in respect for diversity,” Pope Francis said.
Foreign workers and other expatriates account for about 80 percent of the population in the United Arab Emirates, a federation of seven emirates on the southeast edge of the Arabian Peninsula. The Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia, which includes the emirates, Oman and Yemen, estimates almost 1 million of those foreigners are Catholic….
42 priests named with abuse claims on Archdiocese of Galveston – Houston list
Seeing the priest’s name in black and white made little difference to Kevin Johnson.
The name, Walter Dayton Salisbury, was among the 42 priests listed by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston on Thursday as facing credible claims of child sex abuse. He allegedly molested Johnson in the 1970s while serving as the chaplain of Texas Southern University’s Newman Center.
“I’m not impressed,” Johnson said. “At least they put it on there, but it doesn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know.”
Johnson said he fended off Salisbury’s attempts to fondle him at the movies as a child. As a 16-year-old, the priest groped him in a swimming pool. “He stuck his hands down my trunks,” Johnson recounted. “I was trying to breathe and not drown. I realized this was an attack.” Read more here
Cardinal Dolan will NEVER Excommunicate His Buddy Gov. Andrew Cuomo
Timothy Dolan, head of the archdiocese of New York, told Brian Kilmeade in yesterday’s interview on Fox & Friends.
For Christian pro-lifers still reeling in shock that Democrat New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law new rules that permit babies to be aborted up to the day of birth, Dolan is an elephant sitting on their hearts and souls.
“When asked whether New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) should be formally excommunicated from the Catholic Church because he signed into law new rules that permit babies to be aborted up to the day of birth—what one bishop has called “infanticide”—New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan said such a step “would be counterproductive.” It would give “ammo to our enemies,” he added.
