Catholic Church: Raping Children Is Religious Freedom For Pedophile Priests

California priest, Fr. Alex Castillo, suspended and accused of pedophilia fled the country
Fr. Alex Castillo, a priest of the Oakland diocese in the San Francisco Bay Area who was placed on administrative leave following an allegation of inappropriate sexual conduct with a minor, has fled the country.
On January 31, 2019, the Oakland diocese announced that Castillo is under investigation for alleged “inappropriate conduct with a minor” and placed on administrative leave, “not allowed to function publicly as a priest.”
It’s unclear when the alleged sexual misconduct occurred and when the allegation was made. Diocese officials said the case was referred to law enforcement because the church is a mandated reporter, but they did not provide any other details, claiming it “is normative for such a process.” But Melanie Sakoda, a Bay Area leader of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP), said “I don’t think it’s particularly helpful for the diocese not to provide any additional information about the allegations or the priest.” (East Bay Times)
Castillo, a native of Costa Rica, worked at a software development company before joining the seminary. He came to the U.S. in 2008, completed his theological studies at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, and was ordained in 2011 by then-Bishop Salvatore Cordileone (now Archbishop of San Francisco).
Fluent in Spanish and English, Castillo organized and directed missionaries in Costa Rica, and, beginning in 2010, taught at the Serra Catechetical Institute for parents and instructors in the faith. He served at Saint Anthony Parish in Oakley and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Fremont, and directed the reopening of the Escuela de Ministerios Pastorales in 2013, where he was an academic dean and taught several courses. In 2014, he was appointed as Secretary to the Bishop and Episcopal Master of Ceremonies, in which capacity he assisted Bishop Michael C. Barber in public sermons. (Mercury News) Read more here

Cardinal Philippe Barbarin, Archbishop of Lyon, has been found guilty of failure to report abuse committed by one of his priests — Fr. Bernard Preynat, an accused serial abuser who has admitted to molesting boys — and was given a six month suspended sentence. Cardinal Barbarin has announced his intention to resign his seat and appeal the verdict against him.
Two senior churchmen have been convicted of criminal wrongdoing in secular jurisdictions this year, in connection with the ongoing crisis of clerical sexual abuse and cover-up. Cardinal George Pell of Australia has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two altar servers – both boys – in the Melbourne cathedral sacristy in the mid-1990s, when he was archbishop there, and is also appealing his conviction like Cardinal Barbarin. The cases are in many respects similar to each other. Taken together, the cases are also leading indicators of the gravity and scope of this crisis. In Cardinal Pell’s case, there are grave doubts regarding his guilt and serious concerns regarding the integrity of the proceedings against him. The first attempt at trial ended in a hung jury — which reportedly came back deadlocked at 10-2 in favor of acquittal — and the proceedings were conducted under a gag order supposedly in place to guarantee fairness in a climate of hostility to the accused. While in Cardinal Barbarin’s case, the accused had long since admitted to handling the Preynat matter inadequately. “This is because everything that was advocated, including by Pope Francis, had been for the present and the future,”Cardinal Barbarin told Le Monde in a 2017 exclusive interview, “Twice I suspended priests and went to court when I learned of recent events — in 2006 and 2014.”The Preynat business, however, was fifteen or twenty years old. “I knocked a little at every door,”Barbarin went on to say, “to ask for advice: What do we do for old incidents?”“Nobody gave me a satisfactory answer,” Cardinal Barbarin told Le Monde. “I realize today that my response at that time was not up to the challenge.” Nevertheless, even the prosecution asked the bench for acquittal in the case, saying the procurator’s office had no evidence of criminal intent. Pope Francis meets, poses for photos with pro-homosexual ‘Catholic’ group
ROME, March 11, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – Pope Francis met with a pro-homosexual group which identifies itself as “Catholic” and posed with them for photos during the group’s visit to Rome last week.
The group, “ LGBT+ Catholics Westminster”, promotes the normalization of homosexuality within the Catholic Church and seeks to “rid Church and society of systemic, institutional homophobia.” The pro-homosexual group was appointed by Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster, to provide pastoral care to Catholics who identify as homosexual.
LGBT+ Catholics Westminster holds positions contrary to Catholic teaching on homosexuality.
“A fully inclusive pastoral ministry with and for LGBT Catholics, parents and families, inevitably leads to understanding Church teaching on sexuality and gender identity as a developing area of magisterial teaching and not something fixed once and for all in previous documents from the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith,” the group states on its website.
